Whatever\u2019s next, it\u2019s safe to say the Sixers\u2019 opening-night roster will look considerably different than the team swept out of the playoffs<\/a> by the Knicks. Jaylen Brown\u2019s coming to Philadelphia<\/a> in a stunning trade, Paul George is off to Boston, and several notable role players changed teams in the first wave of free agency: <\/p>\n Let\u2019s run through a rough depth chart for the Sixers after an awfully memorable day:\u00a0<\/p>\n Starters\u00a0<\/p>\n Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, Dean Wade, Joel Embiid<\/p>\n Health permitting, it doesn\u2019t seem like the starters will be a difficult decision for head coach Nick Nurse. Brown and Wade should take the forward slots occupied by George and Kelly Oubre Jr.<\/a> last postseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Sixers will primarily ask Wade to play high-quality defense on opposing stars <\/a>and shoot open three-pointers. They\u2019ll believe Edgecombe will keep growing offensively, but he\u2019s already shown he can help in the playoffs <\/a>as an ultra-athletic defender and good guard rebounder. No question Maxey, Brown and Embiid will all get substantial touches as the Sixers figure out the nuances of playing together and optimizing their top-end talent.\u00a0<\/p>\n Bench guards<\/p>\n Anfernee Simons, Labaron Philon Jr.\u00a0<\/p>\n The rookie Philon<\/a> was the only player here until the Sixers came to terms Thursday afternoon on a two-year, $12.3 million deal with Simons.<\/a> Quentin Grimes is reportedly set to join the Lakers.<\/a><\/p>\n The Sixers needed more manpower at guard, especially after a season in which Maxey topped the NBA in minutes per game <\/a>and Edgecombe averaged 35.0 as a rookie. They’ll expect Simons to provide offensive juice off the bench. <\/p>\n Bench wings\/forwards\u00a0<\/p>\n Justin Edwards, Dominick Barlow, Jabari Walker, Dalen Terry\u00a0<\/p>\n As things stand, both the 22-year-old Edwards and 23-year-old Barlow should have a strong chance to retain roles in the rotation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Barlow brought a little bit of almost everything to the table last season<\/a>, although his lack of outside shooting means he\u2019s not a perfect fit in every lineup. Edwards had an uneven second season, but Nurse is a fan of the lefty wing and especially likes that he\u2019s unabashed about launching threes.\u00a0<\/p>\n Walker and Terry have standard NBA deals now after initially signing two-way contracts<\/a> with the Sixers.<\/a> Walker\u2019s 2026-27 salary is partially guaranteed and Terry\u2019s is non-guaranteed, according to Spotrac. <\/a><\/p>\n Bench centers\u00a0<\/p>\n Adem Bona, Ariel Hukporti, Johni Broome\u00a0<\/p>\n
