TODD Hazelwood\u2019s privateer Trans Am team could double in size as soon as next year.<\/p>\n

The two-time series champion went out on his own for this season, as part of launching the multi-faceted Todd\u2019s Garage business.<\/p>\n

Hazelwood opened the chapter with a bang by storming to pole position for the opening race of 2026, and through two rounds he is the top Ford driver in the points (fourth overall).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a pretty crazy start to the year, I\u2019m not going to lie,\u201d Hazelwood said on The Undercut.<\/p>\n

The Undercut is back for another week, downloading a hot weekend in the Top End for Supercars!<\/p>\n

\u201cI had two really good years with TFH Racing. They were brand-new to Trans Am, including myself, at the start of 2024 and that was a really cool journey to help work with them, grow the capability of the team and get it to the point where we\u2019re winning races and then winning championships, which all happened in a short space of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut like anything, all good things come to an end sometimes. Brett (Thomas) and the whole family at TFH, I get along with them still really well, but they just had a new direction, a new opportunity and they went Porsche racing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazelwood had already long been mulling the concept of Todd\u2019s Garage, and so the circumstances proved the perfect tonic to set the wheels in motion.<\/p>\n

Now, don\u2019t be surprised to see the Dick Johnson<\/a> Racing Supercars co-driver\/supersub soon expand his operation \u2013 much like fellow Trans Am frontrunner Nathan Herne has.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a lot of work obviously getting started, building the capability of the team, the business, working on the car, doing all the mechanicals myself,\u201d said Hazelwood.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a huge undertaking, like every day has been a big day this year, but I\u2019m probably a bit of a sucker for punishment I guess, I enjoy the challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t really been hard on the tools since Super2 days where I was prepping the car and all that sort of stuff, so to go full circle now and still enjoy it, and also have the opportunity to maybe turn it into something in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe the opportunity to grow Todd\u2019s Garage into a two-car outfit next year\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
