{"id":775121,"date":"2026-07-02T21:43:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/775121\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T21:43:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:43:19","slug":"carplay-in-ios-26-added-new-setting-that-should-have-always-existed-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/775121\/","title":{"rendered":"CarPlay in iOS 26 added new setting that should have always existed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/carplay-ios-26-liquid-glass.jpg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"CarPlay iOS 26\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iOS 27 has <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/06\/09\/heres-everything-new-for-carplay-in-ios-27\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1055739\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exciting new features coming for CarPlay<\/a>, but nearly a year late, I recently tested out an iOS 26 addition for CarPlay, and it\u2019s one that should have existed all along.<\/p>\n<p>iOS 26 added new setting to optimize CarPlay for your vehicle\u2019s display<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/ios-26-settings-icon.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1025554\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iOS 26 gave CarPlay a bunch of <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/09\/16\/carplay-in-ios-26-heres-everything-new\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1007097\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new features<\/a>, and the list grew even more with <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/04\/28\/ios-26-4-gave-carplay-two-new-features-with-another-big-one-coming\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1044889\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the recent iOS 26.4 additions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smart Display Zoom is a new iOS 26 setting available in CarPlay\u2019s Settings app under \u2018Display.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My colleague Chance <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/09\/22\/carplay-in-ios-26-smart-display-zoom\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote about it last year<\/a>, and for some reason I never bothered to try it out myself\u2014or so I thought.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s what Smart Display Zoom does when enabled, per the Settings app:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CarPlay will be automatically optimized for your vehicle\u2019s display.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sounds simple, right? It also sounds like a setting that should have been there all along.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are so many different vehicle infotainment screens in the world, all varying in shape and size. That makes Smart Display Zoom a no-brainer addition, since it ensures that CarPlay adapts to your specific display.<\/p>\n<p>My experience with CarPlay\u2019s Smart Display Zoom<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/carplay-podcasts-smart-display-zoom-on.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1054345\"  \/>Smart Display Zoom enabled<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently I finally opened the Display menu in my CarPlay Settings app and was surprised to find that Smart Display Zoom was already enabled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I bought my current vehicle in January, and assumed it was using the default view setting. Yet unbeknownst to me, I had actually never seen CarPlay in this vehicle without Smart Display Zoom enabled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when I turned the toggle off, it became obvious how much better the setting makes CarPlay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see in the Apple Podcasts comparisons above and below, some apps are able to show more content with Smart Display Zoom enabled.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/carplay-podcasts-smart-display-zoom-off.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1054341\"  \/>Smart Display Zoom disabled<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every app or interface is drastically different. But for those that are, Smart Display Zoom is the clear winner in my view.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone has their own unique preferences, so it\u2019s possible some who have grown used to the default CarPlay look won\u2019t appreciate Smart Display Zoom.
