Karl Stefanovic has held onto his prestigious speaking gig at the elite boarding school, Prince Alfred College, following a string of career blows in the last week.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster, 51, was axed from Channel Nine’s Today show after 21 years over his controversial podcast interview with far-right activist Tommy Robinson.<\/p>\n

Days later, he was also dumped from his new ARN radio show, which he co-hosted with Eddie McGuire.<\/p>\n

Stefanovic will appear as a guest speaker at the Adelaide school’s black-tie dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre on July 31.<\/p>\n

According to the Courier Mail, he was booked for the gig several months ago and will take home an appearance fee “in the tens of thousands of dollars”.<\/p>\n

Only Prince Alfred College alumni can attend the event, and tickets cost $140.<\/p>\n

Announcing Stefanovic’s appearance in a social media post last month, a spokesperson said the school was “delighted” to have him involved.<\/p>\n

“Karl isn’t just a household name – he’s the voice Australia wakes up to,” they wrote.<\/p>\n

“For more than two decades, Karl has commanded Nine\u2019s Today Show, bringing Australians the stories that shape our world with trademark sharpness, warmth and unshakeable authenticity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement added that Stefanovic \u201cremains one of the country\u2019s most trusted and magnetic presenters\u201d and referred to his “bold and honest” eponymous podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s stepping into conversation too bold, too honest and too unfiltered for traditional TV. Nothing\u2019s off limits,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the presenter appeared visibly emotional<\/a> as he discussed his Nine exit with journalist Piers Morgan.<\/p>\n

He told the Brit, 61, that he was feeling “discombobulated” by the fallout from the Robinson episode because he believed it was a “legitimate interview”.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought Tommy Robinson was a legitimate interview for us to pick up,\u201d he said, adding: \u201cWe did it. I put it up on air and a couple of days later – boom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stefanovic then struggled to hold back tears as he discussed how the saga had impacted his loved ones.<\/p>\n

“My wife, she puts up with a lot,” he admitted. “For me to hear her upset, it was the hardest thing.”<\/p>\n

Nine announced on June 26 that the broadcaster would leave the network “immediately”<\/a>, despite previously agreeing to fulfil his contract until the end of the year.<\/p>\n

“Nine Entertainment and Karl Stefanovic have agreed that it is no longer possible for him to continue hosting Today at the same time as his independent podcast,” a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Days later, ARN confirmed it had also cut ties with Stefanovic, and he will no longer be hosting the weekly Gold radio show, The Long Weekend.<\/p>\n

Stefanovic had only hosted two episodes of the radio show after it launched last month, and it is understood it will now be reframed around McGuire, 61.<\/p>\n
