Muse<\/a>\u00a0debuted songs from \u2018The Wow! Signal<\/a>\u2019\u00a0on the opening night of\u00a0their North American tour<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 see footage and the full setlist below.<\/p>\n

The band launched their run of dates across the Atlantic\u00a0at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin\u00a0last night\u00a0(July 2), in support of their 10th studio album, which\u00a0was released\u00a0last week\u00a0(June 26).<\/p>\n

The opening night saw Muse give live debuts to \u2018Hexagons\u2019 and \u2018Nightshift Superstar\u2019,\u00a0while also including\u00a0\u2018The Wow! Signal\u2019\u00a0tracks \u2018Cryogen\u2019,\u00a0\u2018Be\u00a0With\u00a0You\u2019 and \u2018Unravelling\u2019,\u00a0the latter of which had to be\u00a0stopped and restarted after the first verse due to a power outage.<\/p>\n

The tour\u00a0is set to continue\u00a0across North America throughout July and August, with\u00a0The Temper Trap<\/a>\u00a0supporting across\u00a0the run and\u00a0Bloc Party<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Portugal. The Man<\/a>\u00a0joining on selected dates. The shows are set to wrap at Los Angeles\u2019 Hollywood Bowl on August 31.\u00a0Find any remaining tickets\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0recently<\/a>,\u00a0Matt Bellamy<\/a>\u00a0explained that the North American dates would be slightly more restrained than the arena shows due to venue restrictions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll be a similar production to what we used last summer, but with a few step-ups and a few\u00a0customisations\u00a0for this show,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, he added that the UK and European arena shows would feature a more ambitious\u00a0stage\u00a0production.<\/p>\n

\u201cErm, we\u2019re trying to build a spaceship \u2013 as you do!\u201d Bellamy said. \u201cThe quote came in and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0more expensive than some of these London houses, and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0saying something around here.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to work with that, build a spaceship, do some new stuff with lasers that\u2019s never been done before, and yeah, it will be a classic. It\u2019s going to be more in the space, sci-fi realm, which I think is cool for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re\u00a0trying to make it fly. I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think it will.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0the thing that costs more than a house, but it will be something cool, I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tour takes its name from Muse\u2019s new album, which itself references the real-life Wow! signal, a mysterious 1977 radio burst that some have\u00a0speculated\u00a0could have come from beyond Earth.<\/p>\n

Bellamy previously told\u00a0NME\u00a0that the album found him leaning into \u201cthe unknown\u201d after a difficult personal period, saying: \u201cI can\u2019t live without music \u2013 that feeling came back to me on this album.\u201d<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0gave the album four stars<\/a>, noting: \u201cIn rekindling their own purpose, the Teignmouth trio have delivered undoubtedly their most consistent and satisfying album since \u2018Black Holes & Revelations\u2019 \u2013 doubling up as either a knowing gift to the fans or at least a response to any concerns that Muse had long disappeared too far up their own supermassive blackholes. Look up to the sky with a sigh of relief or a simple \u2018wow\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in April,\u00a0the band played an intimate show at London\u2019s O2 Academy Brixton<\/a>, where they debuted \u2018Cryogen\u2019 and \u2018Be\u00a0With\u00a0You\u2019 live and mixed new material with fan\u00a0favourites.<\/p>\n
