{"id":777289,"date":"2026-07-03T22:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T22:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/777289\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T22:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T22:06:09","slug":"ange-postecoglou-appointed-as-head-coach-at-cristiano-ronaldos-al-nassr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/777289\/","title":{"rendered":"Ange Postecoglou appointed as head coach at Cristiano Ronaldo&#8217;s Al-Nassr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Riyadh-based Al-Nassr, who are captained by Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/c232g9lpdpgo\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">won the Saudi Pro League title<\/a> for the first time in May. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Al-Nassr were previously coached by veteran Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus but the 71-year-old left the club at the end of the previous campaign. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Postecoglou has been without a job in management since he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/cz08z92r3g8o\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sacked by Nottingham Forest<\/a> last October after just 39 days in charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 60-year-old Greece-born Australian has signed a two-year contract with Al-Nassr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Postecoglou guided Spurs to glory in the Europa League in 2025 having previously enjoyed a successful stint in charge of Celtic where he won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He has been working as a pundit with ITV during the World Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
