Women\u2019s golf has been on the rise. With record purses in the LPGA and the global expansion of the sport, new data indicate a new peak for women\u2019s golf.<\/p>\n

The growth is also beginning to reshape other areas of the industry, from professional tournaments to golf travel.<\/p>\n

The R&A Global Golf Participation Report 2025 has revealed that women now account for 34% of adult golfers across its key markets. It is up by a considerable 3% from last year\u2019s 31%.<\/p>\n

The Global Golf Participation Report<\/a> is global in scale, as 148 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, and Oceania have been covered in it. The trend is consistent across both established and emerging golf markets.<\/p>\n

It also revealed regional trends. In Germany, 41% of golfers are now women. In Argentina, it is 36%, 33% in Great Britain & Ireland, and 31% in Australia.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, there has been a whopping 45% increase in female on-course golfers in the US. On top of that, total participation has crossed 8.1 million, the highest on record. Women now account for 28% of all on-course play in the US.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the growth in participation goes hand in hand with the growth of the professional game. The 2025 LPGA schedule had a record $131 million in prize money, and the 2023 Solheim Cup generated 9.5 million viewer hours.<\/p>\n

The growth is no longer limited to participation numbers, with its impact now being felt across other parts of the golf industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cFemale golf travellers are increasingly sophisticated in how they plan and what they expect, the course is one part of a broader experience that includes wellness, culture and, critically, the people they’re travelling with. The opportunity is in understanding that these are golfers looking for a different kind of travel with a different set of priorities, and designing product that actually reflects that,\u201d said Dolores Brown, Head of Tournaments at Golfbreaks.<\/p>\n

The influence that women now hold in the golf travel market is considerable, given their record participation.<\/p>\n

To be held from 19\u201322 October, the International Golf Travel Market is expected to have women\u2019s golf travel as a central theme, and the priorities of women golfers will be at the heart of it.<\/p>\n

The rise is set to make a structural shift in the sport, as operators will now cater heavily to the demands of women golfers.<\/p>\n
