Singer Taylor Swift has married footballer Travis Kelce, creating a massive pop culture moment and a passionate talking point on social media.

Confirmation of their marriage came amid a large-scale event at Madison Square Garden in New York.

But despite the intense media gaze directed at the famous arena, there’s very little we know about the ceremony.

Speculation abounds

There was much speculation about where the couple’s actual wedding ceremony would be held leading up to the event.

Last month US media began reporting the wedding could be held at Madison Square Garden, with TMZ quoting unnamed “sources with direct knowledge”.

A few weeks later, The New York Times published a story off the back of a permit being filed to close the streets around the venue from July 2 to noon on July 4.

There were early signs that something was happening at Madison Square Garden.

 (Reuters: Adam Gray)

The newspaper said an unnamed “entertainment industry executive” told them Swift had rented the venue.

And while there was nothing official from the couple, local media began putting the pieces together to back up the theory.

It was reported several members of Kelce’s football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, had booked hotel rooms at the nearby Marriott Marquis for the weekend.

And a flurry of delivery trucks rocking up outside the arena earlier this week further cemented the theory in the minds of many.

"A

Trucks unloading gear at the venue firmed up theories that something Swift-adjacent was brewing. (Reuters: Adam Gray)

But not everyone was convinced this was the real deal. Some had suggested the activity around Madison Square Garden could have been a decoy to distract the media from a ceremony at a different location.

The New York Post’s Page Six was confident the couple had already wed “in front of a tiny group of loved ones” a few states away in Nashville, citing multiple unidentified sources.

A few hours after the Post’s story was published, Swift’s publicist Tree Paine put out a statement confirming the couple were married.

And signs outside the area broadcast the message to onlookers gathered outside.

"A

However, the statement we have seen did not confirm the venue or the timing of the ceremony itself, an omission fuelling theories the couple had an earlier ceremony in a different venue.

What did Taylor Swift’s wedding dress look like?

We don’t know.

You don’t have to look far on social media to find fake images of Swift in her alleged wedding gown, but we haven’t seen any official photos yet.

However, Paine said both Swift and Kelce’s “wedding ceremony looks” were created by Jonathan Anderson at Christian Dior Haute Couture.

“This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity,” Paine said.

Until we have official photos of the dress, we can only guess at the look Swift settled on.

Here are a few looks from the Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2026 fashion show to fire up your imagination.

But to give you a sense of where her head may be at, here’s what she wore on the red carpet at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala last month.

Swift’s choice could surprise all of us. (Reuters: Kylie Cooper)

Paine also said couple’s shoes were custom-designed by Christian Louboutin and that Swift wore Cartier jewellery.

Again, the jewellery Swift wore is up for speculation, but we’re assuming she factored in how it paired with her engagement ring.

Who were the bridesmaids?

There weren’t any.

“Travis and Taylor did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen,” Paine said.

“Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s man of honour and Jason Kelce was Travis’s best man.”

This may come as a surprise for fans who had been debating which of Swift’s celebrity mates would make the line-up.

Some of the names fans favoured included Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters and Lena Dunham.

Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony

“The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler,” Paine said.

This detail came as a surprise to many, who were not expecting the Billy Madison star to have “celebrant” as one of his credits.

However, it’s worth pointing out how charming Sandler was in the 1998 movie The Wedding Singer.

Kelce appeared alongside Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2 last year.

Sandler spoke about Swift and Kelce last year, describing Swift in an interview on Entertainment Tonight as “incredible” and saying she was kind to his family.

“My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she’s ridiculously nice to them and warm,” he said.

He said Kelce was “such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell”.

Who was on the guest list?

We don’t know that either.

However, we have seen lots of snaps of celebrities either turning up at Madison Square Garden in the evening or leaving afterwards.

Some of those people are the guests that fans would have expected, like Hadid and her partner Bradley Cooper.

But there were plenty of celebrities Swifties might have been surprised to see, including Hugh Grant and Steven Spielberg.

We’ve also seen reports from entertainment website The Hollywood Reporter and fashion magazine Vogue detailing lengthy lists of big name attendees.

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of the famous faces spotted in the area:

It’s an entertainment arena in New York city.

Madison Square Garden is known as the home of the city’s basketball team the New York Knicks, so many people picture this basketball court when they think of the venue.

"Empty

The arena can seat nearly 20,000 people but the venue says it has an “intimate feel”. (Reuters: Carlo Allegri)

But it’s not just a basketball court, it caters for boxing matches, ice hockey games and major concerts, with acts like Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, Madonna and Swift herself playing gigs there.

The arena can seat up to 19,200 people but the venue’s website touts its “intimate feel” thanks to the concave ceiling.

“From a structural standpoint, the arena was considered an engineering marvel for its time, including its famous circular shape and unique, cable-supported ceiling,” the website says.

From the outside, it looks a bit like a drum.

"At

The venue is in a busy part of town. (AP: Invision/Charles Sykes)

What did it look like inside?

Again, we don’t know.

If security is as tight as we think it is, we’re not expecting anyone to post photos from inside the venue until the bride and groom do.

TMZ had floated the theory that wedding organisers were constructing a castle inside, but a report from People rubbished that.

Mind you, that report also cited an unnamed source.

“It looks very special,” the source told People.

“They have grass, carpets and canopies, and it looks like a place where you’d get married.

“There’s a stage set up, but it’s special.”

We assume there was some kind of greenery and structure erected in the venue, given what photographers snapped being unloaded from delivery trucks.

Some of the photos included branches and big, bulky objects coming out of trailers.

"Workers

Perhaps this is a roof? (Reuters: Adam Gray)

"A

It’s unclear what role these branches played in the wedding. (Reuters: Adam Gray)

"People

Perhaps this foliage made the venue feel more like an actual garden. (Reuters: Adam Gray)

Local media reported crews were unloading items labelled “garden party” outside the arena.

So it’s possible the pair staged the event to mirror the imagery we saw in the background of their engagement photos.

"A

We have yet to see official photos from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. (Instagram: @taylorswift)

Where is Madison Square Garden?

It’s right in the thick of New York city, on Manhattan’s West Side.

The arena is a few blocks away from one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the Empire State Building.

That building was lit up in blue in honour of the occasion.

“Her something blue,” the building’s official X account, referring to the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” rhyme.
