SALT LAKE CITY \u2013 Darryn Peterson, the No. 2 overall pick<\/a> in the 2026 NBA Draft<\/a>, dazzled with a game-high 28 points to lead the Utah Jazz over the Atlanta Hawks in overtime, 103-102, during the first day of the 2026 Salt Lake City Summer League<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Peterson scored 18 of his 28 in the second half, including a go-ahead 3 in overtime, to help Utah hold on for the tight victory. The rookie out of Kansas finished 11-for-21 from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range, adding five rebounds, two assists and two blocks while committing a game-high eight turnovers.<\/p>\n

Utah burst out of the gates quickly, establishing a 18-7 edge midway through the opening quarter. The home team\u2019s lead grew to a game-best 16 at the halfway point of the second frame, but solid defense from the Hawks helped them close the first half on a 9-0 run and trimmed the deficit to 49-43 by halftime.<\/p>\n

By the end of the third, Utah had five scorers in double figures, led by Peterson\u2019s 18. An 8-point advantage for the Jazz disappeared over the final 3:30 of regulation, however, as the Hawks tightened up on the defensive end. Atlanta forced five turnovers en route to a 9-0 run during that span of the fourth, but a pair of free throws from Max Abmas sent this thriller to OT.<\/p>\n

Cody Williams, the No. 10 pick in 2024<\/a>, tallied 17 points (8-13 FGs), five rebounds, one steal and two blocks, while Max Abmas and Justin Harmon each poured in 15 points off the Jazz bench.<\/p>\n

Williams was the second-leading scorer while making several standout plays on defense.<\/p>\n

Second-year forward Asa Newell and undrafted forward Gabe Madsen fueled Atlanta with 15 points apiece.<\/p>\n

Kingston Flemings, the No. 8 overall pick<\/a> in 2026 out of Houston, posted 14 points (4-16 FGs) with two 3s, and game-highs in assists (9) and steals (4) to go along with just one turnover.<\/p>\n

Despite his struggles from the field and a 3-pointer that was overturned in OT, Flemings was a difference-maker on defense and controlled the pace on offense in a game where the Hawks won the turnover battle, 26-14. They outscored the Kings in transition, 26-18.<\/p>\n
