{"id":779826,"date":"2026-07-05T03:46:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T03:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/779826\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T03:46:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T03:46:12","slug":"ohio-native-to-defend-boxing-title-in-cleveland-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/779826\/","title":{"rendered":"Ohio native to defend boxing title in Cleveland Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CLEVELAND, Ohio (WSYX) \u2014 The 4th of July holiday weekend is packed with excitement whether its fireworks lighting up the sky or power punches being thrown in the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullah Mason, a native of Cleveland, Ohio and the youngest active world champion in boxing, is taking on his next bout Saturday at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/fannation\/boxing\/boxing-tonight-abdullah-mason-vs-albert-bell-card-start-time-how-to-watch-stream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cleveland State University&#8217;s Wolstein Center against Albert Bell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mason was initially set to fight Joe Cordina, however he was replaced by Bell in a last minute change due to Cordina being unable to obtain a visa. <\/p>\n<p>Now, the match will be an all-Ohio battle as Bell is from Toledo. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing I do want to say is, I\u2019m the youngest world champion in boxing for a reason, and I\u2019m prepared to show that when I step into the ring,\u201d Mason <a href=\"https:\/\/toprank.com\/news\/abdullah-mason-and-albert-bell-set-for-all-ohio-world-title-clash-saturday-live-on-tnt-dazn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said in a press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was definitely unexpected. Albert Bell\u2014that\u2019s our guy from Toledo. But it\u2019s boxing,&#8221; Mason stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019ve got to be prepared for anything, and I\u2019m prepared to come out on top.
