It marks Australia\u2019s seventh Women\u2019s T20 World Cup title out of the 10 that have taken place. The Australian team has won 14 World Cups overall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opener Beth Mooney led Australia\u2019s chase against England, scoring 64 off 49, while Phoebe Litchfield hitting 48 off 35 balls. Australia finished with 153\/3 in 17.1 overs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the first World Cup that Australia has won under the leadership of new captain, Sophie Molineux.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s gone to plan. We\u2019ve been playing the way we wanted to play all tournament,\u201d Litchfield after the win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInternally, we knew we were a bloody good side, and Sophie has done an incredible job, setting us up physically and mentally.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Veteran Ellyse Perry said the World Cup win was \u201ctruly special\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe atmosphere and the occasion have been absolutely phenomenal,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to have the opportunity to play here at Lord\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt has been a joy to be a part of this team with Sophie leading in her first World Cup. This has been a privilege of a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Australia finished the tournament with five wins from five in the group stage. They went on to beat the West Indies and England in the knockout rounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mooney became the first player to be named Player of the Tournament twice, having previously received the award during the 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"gofollow\" data-track=\"NTEyLDcsMSw2MA==\" href=\"https:\/\/2026womenshealthandwellbeingsummit.framer.website\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2026-EB-WHW-Summit.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been talking about this (World Cup) for a long time. It\u2019s been six months of really deliberate conversation and training to prepare us for a day like today,\u201d captain Molineux reflected after the match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re in the business of trying to get better. So I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll celebrate this, and it rolls on pretty quickly. We don\u2019t think we\u2019ve reached any ceilings yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI hope it becomes one of the great sides.
