He started Game I at five-eighth but named on the six-man bench in Games II and III.<\/p>\n<p>BLUES LIGHT FUSE WITH EXPLOSIVE REF CLAIM OVER MAROONS SKIPPER<\/p>\n<p>Maroons star Harry Grant\u2019s gamesmanship has come under notice by several Blues players, who believe the Queensland dummy-half \u201cgets away with a lot\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Grant\u2019s running communication with referees during games hasn\u2019t been missed by the Blues, with back rower Liam Martin matter-of-factly telling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/sport\/nrl\/he-definitely-gets-away-with-a-lot-blues-want-referee-to-ignore-grant-s-on-field-antics-in-decider-20260703-p60cf0.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SMH:<\/a> \u201cHe\u2019s a captain, they have the ref\u2019s ear. There aren\u2019t many that speak (to referees) as much as him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a belief among the New South Wales camp that Grant tries to influence referees either with pleas to officials during play or by approaching the referee when there\u2019s a stoppage.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not being Queensland\u2019s skipper, Grant was often caught in referee Ashley Klein\u2019s ear in Games I and II.<\/p>\n<p>Grant\u2019s opposite number Reece Robson says the Maroons hooker\u2019s gamesmanship can give Queensland an edge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe definitely gets away with a lot of that sort of stuff,\u201d Robson told the Sydney Morning Herald.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Klein and Harry Grant in discussion during an Origin clash.Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the whole Queensland side the last couple of games have been better playing that side of the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something we need to improve. Some people seem to get away with stuff, others don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes it can benefit you going after the penalties. It\u2019s something they do really well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blues reserve hooker Blayke Brailey agreed with Robson, noting the clear influence former Storm and Maroons nine Cam Smith has had on Grant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a captain now, I\u2019ve had to learn in club land about communicating and going about it the right way with refs; you need to talk to them in the right manner so they work with you,\u201d Brailey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s an art to it. Picture: NRL PhotosSource: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>D-DAY ARRIVES FOR BLUES STAR<\/p>\n<p>Today is crucial for Blues star Ethan Strange, who will have to prove his fitness for the Origin decider after rolling his ankle at training last week. <\/p>\n<p>Currently under an injury cloud, Strange is set to be given every chance by NSW officials to be available for Wednesday night\u2019s match.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailytelegraph.com.au\/sport\/nrl\/ethan-strange-to-be-ruled-out-of-state-of-origin-decider-unless-he-passes-monday-fitness-test\/news-story\/cd2fc8024d6a2f1ddece75d1a7c3e815\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">CODE Sports <\/a>understands that the Canberra Raiders star will be ruled out of Game III unless he is able to prove his fitness on Monday morning at a training session in Brisbane. <\/p>\n<p>The decision from the Blues to give him until Monday to prove his availability comes after he spent an hour inside the state\u2019s team room on Sunday, where he met with team doctor Nathan Gibbs, Head of Performance Travis Touma and physio Eddie Farah.<\/p>\n<p>Previously seen in a moon boot, if Strange is unable to get through the session, he will be replaced in the 19-man squad by Matt Burton, who remains in camp as coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Burton was a late inclusion in Game I, joining the squad in place of Mitch Moses, who injured his hamstring at Blues training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, look, I\u2019m doing all I can. I think I should be right.
