Getaway presenter David Reyne has gotten candid about a serious surgery he underwent earlier this year after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and his new lease on life now that it is behind him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old, who has helmed the travel show for over twenty years, sat down with nine.com.au last week to reveal he had undergone a five-hour surgery, which he managed “with flying colours”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, despite a successful surgery and brighter days ahead, the TV star admitted that the experience was no walk in the park.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re staring down mortality,\u201d he confessed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re living with cancer within, there\u2019s always that grey gloom looming in the background,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to now, the Aussie star says he has a new outlook on life that is \u201cjust all sunny and joyous\u201d, adding:\u00a0 \u201cIt makes my heart sing, really.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not only has Reyne come out “on the other side” with a skip in his step, but he has also found a second wind in his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love to keep working. Whenever I think that something\u2019s maybe coming to an end, I think, \u2018Well, what am I going to replace it with?\u2019\u201d he shared.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reyne was inspired to speak out about his diagnosis after Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson revealed he, too, had been battling prostate cancer.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 66-year-old made the health confession last month during the final two episodes of his hit TV show Clarkson’s Farm’s fifth season.<\/p>\n

He has since assured fans that he is “not dead” and is in remission<\/a> in a video posted to social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clarkson added that the only reason he was okay was that he had undergone a prostate exam, something he advised his male followers to do as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“And the reason why I’m fine is that the doctors caught the prostate cancer early, and they caught it early because I got tested,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Now I know a lot of you will say ‘Oh, I don’t want to be tested’, because it means someone will have to put their finger in me.<\/p>\n

“But it’s just a blood test these days.”<\/p>\n

He went on to point out that “ten to twelve thousand people, men, die every year in the UK from prostate cancer”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
