Belgian spacetech startup Edgx<\/a> secured \u20ac2.3M in seed funding to accelerate the commercialization of its AI-powered edge computer for satellites, Edgx Sterna.\u00a0<\/p>\n The funding round was co-led by imec.istart future fund and Flanders Future Tech Fund, with additional support from existing investor imec.istart.\u00a0<\/p>\n Edgx also signed a \u20ac1.1M multi-unit deal with a satellite operator and plans an in-orbit demonstration on a SpaceX Falcon 9 mission in February 2026. The Edgx Sterna Computer<\/a>, powered by NVIDIA technology, enables real-time data processing in orbit, eliminating the need to send raw data to Earth for analysis.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Sterna system includes the SpaceFeather software stack, featuring a space-hardened Linux OS, autonomous health monitoring, radiation fault detection, and in-orbit application deployment.\u00a0<\/p>\n Edgx aims to address the bottleneck in space data processing by enabling satellites to analyze and act on data in real-time. The company\u2019s progress signals a shift in how edge AI is deployed not just at terrestrial endpoints but in orbital networks, opening new frontiers for edge intelligence in Earth observation, defense, and space communications.<\/p>\n \u201cCustomers aren\u2019t waiting for flight validation, they\u2019re signing now.
