They have long been a staple of <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_food-drink_article_main-content_article-body_6_7285744\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/recipes\/cuisines\/mediterranean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mediterranean cooking<\/a>, particularly in Nadal&#8217;s native Spain.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">They have grown in popularity in the U.S. in recent years, along with other <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_food-drink_article_main-content_article-body_6_7285745\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/recipes\/cuisines\/seafood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">seafood<\/a> in the tinned-fish category, as Americans increasingly seek healthy, convenient foods.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;Anchovies are an absolute nutritional dynamo,&#8221; Sudi Pigott, a London-based anchovy sommelier and author of &#8220;Consider the Anchovy: A Journey in Pursuit of the Little Fish with the Big Flavour,&#8221; told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/56adaa7d-rafael_nadal.jpg\" alt=\"Rafael Nadal hits a backhand.\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Retired tennis star Rafael Nadal, pictured playing in 2024, revealed recently that his breakfast often consists of anchovies on toast. They&#8217;re also &#8220;packed with nutrients&#8221; and are &#8220;among the best fish sources of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of healthy fat your body needs to work well,&#8221; according to the medical institution.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Research has linked diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids to a lower risk of age-related macular degeneration, Pigott said.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;Eating anchovies regularly may also reduce triglyceride levels, slow the buildup of plaque in one&#8217;s arteries and reduce blood pressure, as well as [lower the] risk of blood clotting,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_food-drink_article_main-content_article-body_6_7285746\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/lifestyle\/quizzes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Additionally, anchovies are a plentiful source of B vitamins, calcium, iron, potassium and zinc. (iStock)<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">The global tinned-fish market size is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mordorintelligence.com\/industry-reports\/tinned-fish-market?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">forecast to grow<\/a> at a compound annual growth rate of 5.18% between 2026 and 2031, market research firm Mordor Intelligence reported.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">The demand for convenience foods that are not processed is also influencing consumer demand toward tinned fish, the company reported.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_food-drink_article_main-content_article-body_6_7285748\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/lifestyle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE NEWS<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">TikTok interest in tinned fish increased by 91% between 2024 and 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/are-tinned-fish-healthy?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Vogue reported.<\/a> The boom is due in part to new companies like the Fishwife Tinned Seafood Co. that have emerged and rebranded tinned fish in trendy, chic ways.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;For years, tinned fish had one reputation: bland, dry, back-of-the-pantry food,&#8221; declared a Fishwife TikTok post explaining how the company became &#8220;one of the fastest-growing seafood brands in America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/fishwife_anchovies.jpg\" alt=\"A sign advertising Fishwife anchovies.\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>In recent years, companies such as Fishwife have repackaged tinned fish and made it trendy with updated labeling and marketing.
