Two cameras is better than one. A thinner phone means lower battery life than a thicker phone. This is how Apple conditioned consumers to understand the differences between its iPhone lineup\u2014and to pay the most for its \u201cPro\u201d and \u201cPro Max\u201d models<\/a>. Now, Apple needs to fix the iPhone Air<\/a> with the rules it established, whether it likes it or not.<\/p>\n

On the same day that he filed a formal response to Apple\u2019s lawsuit against him for leaking what would become iOS 26, YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser dropped a video depicting<\/a> what the \u201ciPhone Air 2\u201d will look like when it reportedly launches in spring 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Prosser says the second-gen iPhone Air will have an ultrawide camera alongside the main camera. He says both cameras will have 48 megapixels. Adding an ultrawide would satisfy just about everyone who complained about the iPhone Air\u2019s single lens.<\/p>\n

In his high-resolution 3D renders, Prosser places the second camera next to the main one. Last year, I voiced how this design wouldn\u2019t be possible<\/a> unless Apple redesigned the camera plateau or shrank the components inside to fit an additional camera. If Prosser is correct, it looks like Apple will do the latter. He says Apple is redesigning the Face ID camera to give the iPhone Air 2 \u201cjust enough room\u201d to fit the ultrawide.<\/p>\n

Prosser also shared other unconfirmed details on the iPhone Air 2, including a 2nm \u201cA20 Pro\u201d chip with efficiencies that he claims will \u201clead to better battery life [\u2026] nothing dramatic, but definitely noticeable.\u201d He also states that the iPhone Air 2 will keep its titanium midframe, and while it\u2019ll likely ship in the same \u201cspace black,\u201d \u201ccloud white,\u201d and \u201cwhite gold\u201d colors, the \u201csky blue\u201d colorway could be replaced with lavender.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s \u201cthird\u201d iPhone series has always been mixed\u2014never managing to sell as much as the regular iPhone or the iPhone Pros. The company has tried going smaller with the iPhone mini and going bigger with the iPhone Plus. Apple went thinner last year with the iPhone Air, but it came with tradeoffs to the camera and the battery. The updates Prosser claims are coming could reverse the iPhone Air\u2019s sales woes, but it\u2019s also possible that they may not\u2026 unless Apple replaces the regular iPhone with it. Prosser\u2019s crystal ball says that could happen.<\/p>\n

One thing feels certain for the iPhone Air 2: Apple is likely to raise its $999 starting price, like it has on Macs, iPads, HomePods, and even four-year-old Apple TV boxes<\/a>. Again, blame AI data centers<\/a> for buying up the global supply of memory and flash storage for all the price hikes in consumer electronics<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two cameras is better than one.
