\u201cIf I put myself in Brendan Gale\u2019s shoes and the rest of the Devils\u2019 selection committee, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s been any need to have a senior coach appointed at this stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe director of footy, potentially, but you\u2019ve got to understand there\u2019s still a season and a half away from starting and about 15 months away from the pre-season beginning. So there\u2019s still lots of time. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe list build and the figurehead status on that side to build the momentum into 2028 is going to be important, but I still think there\u2019s a long runway for that to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buckley said earlier: \u201cOne thing I would say is that everyone external to the club wants all the information that they can get now, that\u2019s just the way it\u2019ll go. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been the way that we\u2019ve seen it in terms of the license itself, the stadium, the VFL team, the performance centre, the coaching position, the director of footy, who they\u2019re recruiting, when and how they\u2019re going to utilise and build the list.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, in the end, there\u2019s a lot of questions that can only be answered as the Devils make those decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former Collingwood coach is among several Cats assistants vying for senior roles, with James Kelly and James Rahilly linked to Essendon and Carlton\u2019s vacancies.<\/p>\n
But Buckley said it hasn\u2019t been discussed internally at Geelong as something that could potentially impact the group. <\/p>\n
