LeBron James<\/a> might be widely expected to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, but NBA Insider Brian Windhorst might not be ready to call it done just yet.<\/p>\n

Appearing on 5 Good Minutes with Windy<\/a>, the longtime ESPN reporter spoke on the growing belief around the league that LeBron\u2019s return to Cleveland is all but done. But Windy admitted that even though the momentum might point in that direction, he also dropped hints that LeBron is far from making a decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople around the league certainly think it\u2019s pointing toward Cleveland, but they\u2019re operating off vibes. If you ask me whether the vibes are pointing toward Cleveland, yeah, they are. But it\u2019s still just vibes. I wish I could sit here and tell you my sources say that, at 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday, this is what\u2019s going to happen. But I can\u2019t.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s the thing. In 2010, he announced his decision on live television. In 2014, he announced it on the internet. It was basically through a magazine, but essentially it was an online article. In 2018, it was a press release. Now he gets to choose the medium. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

These comments are interesting, especially when it was Windhorst was also the insider who pointed out that teams around the league were losing hope<\/a> about signing the 41-year-old star.<\/p>\n

Following the Philadelphia Sixers<\/a> adding Jaylen Brown<\/a> in a massive blockbuster trade<\/a>, they reached out to LeBron. But when he asked people in the franchise about their chances, their response was pretty clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re afraid it\u2019s Cleveland.\u201d<\/p>\n

That feeling reverberated across the NBA, with several teams pursuing LeBron feeling that a return to Cleveland is imminent<\/a>.\u00a0 The Cavaliers\u2019 odds on prediction markets have risen massively, suggesting a return is imminent.<\/p>\n

Still, Windhorst\u2019s latest comments serve as an important message that speculation and confirmation are two very different things.<\/p>\n

And after all, this is LeBron James.<\/p>\n

There may not be another player in American Sports who controls a new cycle like him. If he wants to announce his next team with a simple post on X, he can. If he wants to, he can just drop an Instagram reel. He could just release a video, send out a statement, publish another essay as he did in 2014, or simply have Rich Paul<\/a> notify reporters. Who knows, he might as well just drop a post to The Times.<\/p>\n

There are really no rules when it comes to LeBron.<\/p>\n

That uncertainty is exactly why Windhorst stopped short of declaring Cleveland the winner of the sweepstakes.<\/p>\n

Windy\u2019s comments may also add life back into hopes for teams like the Sixers, Warriors, Heat and the Sixers, all of whom continue to wait for LeBron\u2019s decision before figuring out their own offseason plans.<\/p>\n

The league might think that the Cavaliers might be his destination. The vibes may point toward Ohio.
