{"id":785548,"date":"2026-07-07T21:05:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T21:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/785548\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T21:05:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T21:05:07","slug":"ros-signs-with-utsa-womens-basketball-utsa-athletics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/785548\/","title":{"rendered":"Ros signs with UTSA Women\u2019s Basketball &#8211; UTSA Athletics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2013 On Tuesday, UTSA head women&#8217;s basketball coach\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/staff\/karen-aston\" title=\"Karen Aston\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Karen Aston<\/a> officially announced the signing of point guard Jana Ros, who makes her way to San Antonio from Matar\u00f3, Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Jana Ros | 5-5 | PG | Matar\u00f3, Spain | Escola Pia Santa Anna<\/p>\n<p>Ros has represented her home club, Uni\u00f3 Esportiva Matar\u00f3, in the Spanish Liga Femenina 2, where, during her Junior B team, the squad became the Champions of Catalonia in both 5&#215;5 and 3&#215;3. Ros\u2019 success culminated in earning a spot on the Spanish National 3&#215;3 Championship. Additionally, she\u2019s served as an assistant coach at the Uni\u00f3 Esportiva Matar\u00f3 youth levels for the past four years. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She is the daughter of Marta and Joseph Maria, and she plans to study kinesiology at UTSA.<\/p>\n<p>Ros becomes the seventh member of the 2026 Signing Class, joining <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/emily-hunter\" title=\"Emily Hunter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Hunter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/kierra-merchant\" title=\"Kierra Merchant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kierra Merchant<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/praise-egharevba\" title=\"Praise Egharevba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Praise Egharevba<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/bhret-clay\" title=\"Bhret Clay\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bhret Clay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/rihyana-kinsey\" title=\"Rihyana Kinsey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rihyana Kinsey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/player\/amaya-mcdonald\" title=\"Amaya McDonald\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amaya McDonald<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Head Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/goutsa.com\/staff\/karen-aston\" title=\"Karen Aston\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Karen Aston<\/a> on Ros:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to announce the last addition to our 26-27 roster. Jana provides us with depth and playmaking ability at the point guard position. We have been searching for a point guard since spring that gives us depth and takes pressure off our team to play out of position. Jana is a pass-first, true PG that I am really excited to see develop in our system. She is excited about being a Roadrunner and it is very heartwarming to hear her speak about coming to UTSA.
