St Kilda coach Ross Lyon is set to sit down with the club\u2019s high performance crew to chart Max King\u2019s long-awaited comeback.<\/p>\n
King has not played AFL in more than two years but is edging towards playing after injuring his hamstring in a VFL clash earlier this season.<\/p>\n
Lyon has long resisted offering timelines on injuries, insisting recovery is never linear.<\/p>\n
But he said King would integrate into the main training session this week before the discussion about his return.<\/p>\n
\u201cMax will train this week with the team, I wouldn\u2019t have used the word imminent, but someone did so that sort of lit it up,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he has made real ground, in the fullness of time we\u2019ll get there.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am going to have a meeting later in the week, probably Friday the day before the game with high performance to get an exact feel on it. It\u2019s imminent.\u201d<\/p>\n
Big man Tom De Koning is also closing in on a comeback after going down with another blow to his abdomen against Western Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
\u201cTommy\u2019s lungs are fine, he\u2019s back running, it gives him a bit of a break from the club \u2013 he got down the surf coast with family yesterday and ran,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he was in the meeting yesterday, the happy review, he\u2019s on his way.<\/p>\n
\u201cJack Sinclair we know is done for the year and that\u2019s disappointing but we need to look after him.\u201d<\/p>\n
King and De Koning are part of the young talent Lyon has lauded as the club\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
As is Darcy Wilson, whom the Saints are well placed to keep despite being out of contract at season\u2019s end.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a real weight of numbers performance, it\u2019s great to see young players developing,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of noise around him but he\u2019s progressing, possession is nine tenths of the law.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the market you work in and ultimately you\u2019ve got to build an environment, develop his football and create opportunity \u2013 we feel we\u2019re doing that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat applies to all our players, to be honest. I like to think we\u2019ve got 44 and like to look after them fairly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think everyone is equal because that would be communism, wouldn\u2019t it? He would be getting 150, so we\u2019ll get to that, work it out and ultimately we\u2019ve got to satisfy him.\u201d<\/p>\n
