{"id":787163,"date":"2026-07-08T14:55:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T14:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/787163\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T14:55:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T14:55:10","slug":"basketball-champions-league-debut-opponents-confirmed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/787163\/","title":{"rendered":"Basketball: Champions League debut opponents confirmed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FC <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/porto-13\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Porto<\/a> will face Bnei Penlink Herzliya (Israel), Asisa Joventut (Spain) and Telekom Baskets Bonn (Germany) in Group H of the Basketball Champions League, following the draw held this Wednesday at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, FIBA\u2019s headquarters in Mies, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>To reach the group stage of this competition for the first time in their history, FC <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/porto-13\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Porto<\/a> ended a ten-year drought by winning the National Championship in 2025\/26, after beating Benfica 3-1 in the final of the Portuguese Basketball League Playoffs, played in a best-of-five format.<\/p>\n<p>The regular season of the Basketball Champions League, scheduled to start on 6 October, features eight groups of four teams, with the winners of each group securing direct qualification for the round of 16.
