From Matilda Mary Fowler to boxing great Jeff Fenech and a beaming Blues coach Laurie Daley, NSW\u2019s dressing room revelled in an improbable series win with t-shirts pre made to celebrate their State of Origin triumph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ridiculed, written off and with a host of players ready to be retired from rep footy if they didn\u2019t win, NSW didn\u2019t miss a beat by decking out their stars in clobber denoting their Origin III win just minutes after full time.<\/p>\n

Deep in the bowels of Suncorp Stadium, the Blues gave an insight into one of the most famous backs-to-the-wall wins of the modern era, which included an inspirational image of Michael Maguire\u2019s drought breakers in 2024.<\/p>\n

Daley led the Blues to their second series-deciding win on enemy territory in three years, but the first time NSW had achieved the feat after losing game two. It was a moment he used weeks to prepare for, and the NSW Rugby League commercial gurus didn\u2019t miss the chance to prepare either with its own fashion statement.<\/p>\n

As Daley, man of the series Nathan Cleary and James Tedesco sipped from customary Toohey New cans, it was clear the 2024 series was a huge motivational factor for the Blues.<\/p>\n

Daley called Broncos coach Michael Maguire into camp on match eve to share some stories with the players, including his signature baseball bat he brought into camp.<\/p>\n

The Blues\u2019 dressing sheds had a massive photo of Maguire talking to his players in the middle of an empty and eerie Suncorp Stadium turf long after game three of that series.<\/p>\n

Daley had the chance to do it again this time.<\/p>\n

Fowler used her off-season break from her commitments with Manchester City to watch Cleary star in the Blues\u2019 30-12 win. Fitted in cowboy boots and a classic retro NSW jumper, featuring a collar, Fowler was by her beau\u2019s side throughout the post-game celebrations.<\/p>\n

Fenech was another notable name who popped into the sheds as he celebrated the win with his future son-in-law, gun Blues centre Bradman Best.<\/p>\n

NSW legends Craig Wing and Tim Brasher were among the first to congratulate Daley on the 2-1 series win, posing for a photo with the man Phil Gould described as NSW\u2019s greatest ever player. He now has a second Origin series win as a coach.<\/p>\n

Daley\u2019s wife Michelle made the trip to Brisbane to watch the decider and was with the coach as he sipped his first beer for almost four months.<\/p>\n

There was a nice moment when, after having photos taken with the Origin shield alongside his own family, Daley summoned NSW women\u2019s coach John Strange to be in a picture with him alongside the spoils. Strange led the Blues\u2019 women\u2019s side to a series win in 2026 too.<\/p>\n

He was there to watch his son Ethan play in the decider, with the Raiders star activated as a late interchange player after Jack Bostock joined James Tedesco as two NSW players failing concussion tests.<\/p>\n

Both debutant Bostock and veteran Tedesco were in good spirits after the match despite their heavy head knocks, forcing the Blues into a major backline reshuffle. Both watched the final minutes from the bench.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe critics come out when you don\u2019t win and we all copped it to be fair,\u201d Tedesco said. \u201cBut we all enjoyed that. It was our backs against the wall and us against everyone else. Loz is a big part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

NSWRL boss David Trodden shared a quiet word with Daley in the victorious sheds having earlier slipped into the press conference when the coach took umbrage at some of the media criticism levelled at his players and coaching throughout the series.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been almost two years since the NSWRL board rubber stamped Daley\u2019s appointment to his second coming as Blues coach, which came with Craig Bellamy as his adviser.<\/p>\n

At the end of last year\u2019s series, which NSW surrendered in game three, Bellamy made a pact with his general manager Frank Ponissi they would meet all the Storm players from both sides for a beer in the Accor Stadium tunnel.<\/p>\n

Bellamy wasn\u2019t there this time after stepping away to focus on his Melbourne commitments, but his great mate was.
