An allegedly stolen car was found abandoned at Uxbridge, west of New Norfolk. Image \/ File<\/p>\nA man wanted after a police helicopter search in the Derwent Valley has been arrested and charged, along with three others.<\/p>\n
Tasmania Police arrested the 29-year-old from Blackmans Bay in South Hobart on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He had been sought since Monday, when an allegedly stolen car was found abandoned at Uxbridge, west of New Norfolk.<\/p>\n
Police say the charges include firearms and drug offences, two counts of burglary and three counts of aggravated burglary.<\/p>\n
He was also charged with three counts of motor vehicle stealing, seven counts of stealing, three counts of evading police and seven counts of driving without a licence.<\/p>\n

He was detained in custody. He will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.<\/p>\n
Officers began tracking the car around 11:15am on Monday, when it was believed to be near Lonnavale in the Huon Valley.<\/p>\n
It was seen heading towards Mount Lloyd at 11:55am. The car was found a short time later at Uxbridge.<\/p>\n
Police said the driver fled on foot. A helicopter was deployed to search the area.<\/p>\n
Officers urged the public not to approach the man and believed he may have been trying to hitchhike on Plenty Valley Road.<\/p>\n
Three other people have also been arrested and charged as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
A 39-year-old Swansea man was charged with two counts of motor vehicle stealing and two counts of driving while disqualified.<\/p>\n
He was also charged with one count of stealing and resisting a police officer.<\/p>\n
A 25-year-old Geeveston woman was charged with one count of motor vehicle stealing.<\/p>\n
A 25-year-old Blackmans Bay woman was also charged with one count of motor vehicle stealing.<\/p>\n
