A confronting video that appeared across social media had prompted an animal cruelty investigation after it showed a man allegedly throwing a black cat at a door.<\/p>\n
The footage, which was widely shared on Facebook including by advocacy pages Australians Against Animal Abuse and Animals First Australia, appears to show a man holding the cat before hurling it with force at a wardrobe door. <\/p>\n
The animal then falls into a washing basket and runs to the side of the room, before the young man turns the camera on himself and appears to have a blank expression.<\/p>\n
Animals First Australia said it had \u201csubmitted reports to Crime Stoppers and RSPCA Vic\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are seeking any further information that may assist with our report,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf have any other relevant information, please contact us urgently.<\/p>\n
RSPCA Victoria confirmed it was looking into the matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can confirm we have received a report regarding this matter, and an investigation is underway,\u201d an RSPCA spokesman told NewsWire.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs this is an active investigation, we\u2019re unable to provide any further information.\u201d<\/p>\n
The organisation also urged people with direct knowledge of suspected animal abuse to report concerns straight to RSPCA Victoria.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is crucial any concerns for animal welfare in the community are reported directly to RSPCA Victoria by first-hand witnesses,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
