LIV Golf’s efforts to become financially sustainable took another turn on Wednesday when the league notified employees in the United States and United Kingdom of potential future workforce actions.<\/p>\n

The move comes as LIV Golf continues its search for outside investment after the PIF’s decision to withdraw funding, with the league still pursuing long-term profitability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no changes to LIV Golf\u2019s current workforce, operations, or schedule at this time,\u201d a LIV spokesperson told Bunkered on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our process to identify strategic investors moves forward in a positive direction, and as part of responsible planning for a range of possible outcomes, we have notified employees in the United States and United Kingdom of potential future actions related to the League\u2019s corporate workforce,\u201d they added, as per Bunkered<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Sports Business Journal, the league is filing Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices in the United States. The layoff could just be the result of that. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis step is being taken in accordance with legal obligations in each jurisdiction. We deeply appreciate our employees\u2019 continued dedication as we work toward a strong and sustainable future for the League,\u201d the LIV spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf is actively seeking investment in the range of $300 million. However, the tour hasn\u2019t secured any significant investors yet.<\/p>\n

With PIF reportedly having spent over $5 billion on LIV Golf, the league now faces the challenge of attracting new investors following the fund’s decision to end its backing after the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

The potential layoffs come at a challenging time for the league.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf under fresh legal scrutiny\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to ESPN<\/a>, English companies World Golf Group and Premier Golf League are the ones legally scrutinizing LIV. Their lawsuit is demanding $210 million and $630 million from the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Breach of confidence and unlawful means conspiracy are the grounds on which the rebel tour is facing trouble. The lawsuit reportedly labeled LIV Golf a \u201cbald facsimile of the PGL.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per the lawsuit, the PGL first conceived the concept of team golf, shotgun starts, 54-hole events, and other aspects on which LIV is based.<\/p>\n

Former WGG founders Richard Marsh and Jed Moore have been accused of a breach of fiduciary duty. They stand at the centre of the conflict as they played the major role in helping the PIF launch LIV, with the concepts of PGL.<\/p>\n
