TOWNSVILLE 500 wildcards Reuben Goodall<\/a> and Aaron Seton<\/a> share a connection rarely seen in the main game.<\/p>\n

That is, that Goodall\u2019s first season of Supercar racing, in the 2024 Dunlop Super2 Series, came with Seton as his race engineer.<\/p>\n

Seton\u2019s decision to step back from racing at the end of 2023 in favour of taking on a more prominent role within the Gomersall Motorsport business paved the way for rookie Goodall to become his successor.<\/p>\n

A largely challenging campaign eventuated, something which has proven the foundations for Goodall to experience bigger and better things upon entering the Tickford Racing fold.<\/p>\n

Now they will share a pit boom on the big stage this weekend in north Queensland.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a situation described by Seton (who is representing Matt Stone Racing) as a \u201cfull circle moment\u201d and one which Goodall is welcoming.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I worked with Aaron, obviously he was very fresh out of Super2 and sort of moved aside and I drove the car that year,\u201d Goodall told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI looked at it and was like \u2018gee Aaron is quite a bit better than what he has got credit for. Like this guy is a pretty serious operator\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy that he has made a step forward in his career as well because there was definitely a point in \u201924 where he had almost admitted defeat and that it was all over<\/a>. So to see him back in the hunt is really awesome.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a massive amount of respect for each other, we know each other really well, and to be sharing a boom with him is a pleasure. I couldn\u2019t think of anyone better to go up against as my first solo wildcard competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The circumstances naturally do set the scene for some banter between the two.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe he knows how I race too well after engineering me for a year, so maybe he has got the upper hand,\u201d added the South Australian.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we\u2019ll see. I said to him \u2018they\u2019ve put me in the 25th garage and he\u2019s in the 26th garage because they knew I was going to be quicker! So we\u2019ve been winding each other up back and forth about it all week.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more is Goodall\u2019s other pitlane neighbour is his best mate, Jobe Stewart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goodall, who hails from Adelaide, met the Erebus Motorsport full-timer in 2015 at a karting event in the latter\u2019s hometown of Mount Gambier.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty special as well, but everyone knows once you put your helmet on, there\u2019s not really any mates,\u201d said Goodall.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re all here fighting for the same thing. Jobe has got his own stuff going on, I\u2019ve got my own stuff going on.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut another guy where we know how we race very well because we\u2019re on the sim 24\/7 together, so he probably knows when I\u2019m going to try to pass him or vice versa.\u201d<\/p>\n

The one and only Supercars practice session of the NTI Townsville 500 will be held this morning from 10:35am.<\/p>\n
