Former Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has opted out of the Essendon process after a conversation with Bombers president Andrew Welsh.<\/p>\n

Goodwin\u2019s decision to remain an assistant coach with Sydney instead of pursuing the Essendon coaching job follows the news that another former senior coach, Nathan Buckley, had politely declined the opportunity to be a candidate to replace Brad Scott.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve made it pretty clear that I\u2019m open to some conversations. I\u2019ve had enquiries and a chat with Andrew Welsh. That\u2019s not a process at the moment that I\u2019m going to lean into,\u201d Goodwin told SEN before the Swans\u2019 loss to Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Thursday night.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m loving my time in Sydney, continuing to evolve and get back into coaching and seeing where that takes me. It\u2019s got to feel right for you and as well and the club. As I sit here now I won\u2019t be entering that process.<\/p>\n

Carlton are also searching for a coach to replace Michael Voss. Interim coach Josh Fraser has won seven consecutive matches since taking on the job in May.<\/p>\n
