The criminal trial for former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been pushed from July 13 to Sept. 8, according to WIBC’s Jarrett Lewis<\/a>. This marks the fifth time Sanchez’s trial has been continued to a later date. He was originally scheduled to go on trial in December before the delays.<\/p>\n Sanchez, 39, was taken to an Indianapolis hospital and later arrested in October 2025 after an alleged incident<\/a> with a 69-year-old truck driver. The trucker told police he used pepper spray and a knife to defend himself against Sanchez after the ex-QB allegedly attacked him.<\/p>\n Sanchez, who worked for Fox Sports at the time, was in Indianapolis to serve as a commentator for a Colts<\/a>–Raiders<\/a> game. Sanchez was let go by the network following his arrest.<\/p>\n Sanchez is facing several charges, including felony battery resulting in serious injury. If he is convicted in an eventual trial, Sanchez could face up to six years in prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sanchez was picked by the\u00a0New York Jets<\/a>\u00a0in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft out of USC. He played in the NFL from 2009-2018, spending time with six teams. The\u00a0Denver Broncos<\/a>\u00a0acquired Sanchez in a trade with the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> in 2016 following Peyton Manning’s retirement.<\/p>\n Need a news break? Sanchez was then cut<\/a> and the Broncos<\/a> retained the conditional late-round draft pick they had tentatively agreed to send to the\u00a0Eagles<\/a>\u00a0if Sanchez made the team. After being let go by Denver, Sanchez spent three more years in the NFL as a backup before retiring in 2019.
