The Boston Celtics<\/a> only got a brief look at Charles Bassey last season.<\/p>\n

They’ll only get to watch him from afar in the 2026-27 NBA season, because he’s signed with the Golden State Warriors.<\/p>\n

The transaction was shown as official in the NBA’s transaction log on Friday.<\/p>\n

Bassey is a 6-foot-10 center who was a top-10 recruit in the Class of 2018, made the unprecedented choice to go to Western Kentucky, then was a second-round pick into the NBA in 2021.<\/p>\n

He has since played for the 76ers, Spurs, Grizzlies, Celtics and Warriors.<\/p>\n

Bassey joined the Celtics on a 10-day contract in March of 2026 and played five games with Boston, signing a second 10-day contract along the way.<\/p>\n

In those five games, Bassey played just 3.4 minutes per contest. He did shoot 85.7% from the floor in the immensely small sample size — 6-for-7 from the field.<\/p>\n

He put up 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in the limited Celtics stint.<\/p>\n

Bassey ended the year with the Warriors after his second Celtics 10-day contract expired, with him then signing a 10-day deal with the Warriors.<\/p>\n

In five games with Golden State, Bassey played 20.0 minutes per game and averaged 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.<\/p>\n

While just a small sample, that was the best production Bassey has displayed in the NBA. It’s likely what helped convince Golden State to keep him this offseason.<\/p>\n

Boston is doing just fine at center, with Mitchell Robinson and Neemias Queta leading the way inside.<\/p>\n

If Bassey breaks out in the Bay Area, it’s not something the Celtics will regret too much — but they did get a look at him before letting him go.<\/p>\n
