Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will miss the 2026 MLB All-Star Game due to a left knee injury.<\/p>\n
“Shohei Ohtani will not make his scheduled start on the mound this evening against the D-backs due to continued irritation in his left knee,” the Dodgers announced Friday. “He will serve as the designated hitter the rest of the weekend, but following the series against the D-backs he will have some interventions on his knee to put him in the best position for the second half of the season. Unfortunately, due to these events, he will not be able to travel to Philadelphia and participate in the 2026 All-Star Game.”<\/p>\n
Fabian Ardaya<\/a> of The Athletic reported Ohtani will have his left knee drained and then will “likely” receive and injection.<\/p>\n OhtanI was later replaced<\/a> by the St. Louis Cardinals’ Iv\u00e1n Herrera on the National League roster for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.<\/p>\n Ohtani previously dealt with left knee inflammation<\/a> during Los Angeles’ 8-6 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 11.<\/p>\n Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the team was taking a cautious approach regarding the four-time MVP’s health after the game.<\/p>\n “We tried to be smart about it and get him out of the game,” Roberts said at the time, per MLB.com’s\u00a0John Perrotto<\/a>. “He told the trainer that he felt a little something behind his knee, and I just didn’t see any sense in risking it.”<\/p>\n
