{"id":793294,"date":"2026-07-11T10:07:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T10:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/793294\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T10:07:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T10:07:13","slug":"melbourne-cafe-sprayed-with-bullets-in-alleged-drive-by-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/793294\/","title":{"rendered":"Melbourne cafe sprayed with bullets in alleged drive-by shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charges have been laid after a Melbourne cafe was peppered with bullets during an alleged drive-by shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Police allege multiple shots were fired at Andy\u2019s Cafe on Mount Alexander Road in North Essendon about 2.45am on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>A police helicopter tracked a Toyota Kluger that fled the scene through Keilor and Taylors Lakes.<\/p>\n<p>The car was found on Mahon Court and the occupants of the Kluger were spotted entering a property on Old Calder Highway where they were arrested without incident.<br \/>Police have alleged the car was stolen on May 15.<\/p>\n<p>The men, both from Keilor Downs and aged 18 and 20, were charged with multiple offences including discharging a firearm in public, criminal damage and car theft.<\/p>\n<p>They are due to front the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Cafe owner Raymond Yacoub said it was a terrible disaster and he did not know why his cafe had been targeted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never had any issues with customers or with anyone and suddenly out of the blue it happened,\u201d he told the ABC.<\/p>\n<p>Read related topics:<a class=\"topic_tag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/topics\/melbourne\" data-tgev-container=\"story-topic-links\" data-tgev-label=\"Melbourne\" data-tgev-order=\"1\" data-tgev-metric=\"npv\" data-tgev=\"event10\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Melbourne<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Charges have been laid after a Melbourne cafe was peppered with bullets during an alleged drive-by shooting.
