Victoria\u2019s sole One Nation MP has urged Opposition\u00a0leader Angus Taylor to reconsider his approach to Pauline Hanson\u2019s party, arguing conservatives should unite if they want to remove Labor from office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell said the Coalition was ignoring the political reality by ruling out closer cooperation with One Nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky News, she said the numbers showed both parties could defeat the Albanese government if they worked together.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he needs to learn to do maths a bit better,\u201d Ms Tyrrell\u00a0said of Mr Taylor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking at the poll, One Nation, if they worked with the Coalition could overthrow Labor together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The comments add to the growing rift between the Coalition and One Nation after Mr Taylor launched his strongest criticism yet of the minor party, declaring it was not fit to govern.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He rejected calls for a formal alliance.<\/p>\n

However, he dodged questions over whether the Coalition would still consider preference arrangements with One Nation.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Ms Tyrrell dismissed Mr Taylor\u2019s economic criticisms.<\/p>\n

She questioned his claims that One Nation\u2019s policies would leave Australia carrying an extra trillion dollars in debt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he can\u2019t do the simple maths on that, saying that our policies could run the nation into a trillion dollars of debt, I\u2019m not buying it,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLabor is\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0destroying Australia and Angus really needs to listen to Australians.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHim saying that\u00a0we\u2019re a one person show I think\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0rather offensive to the massive amount of support that\u00a0we\u2019re receiving.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Taylor has repeatedly rejected suggestions the Coalition should form a closer partnership with One Nation.<\/p>\n

He insisted his focus remains on defeating Labor rather than negotiating political alliances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy focus here right now is on getting rid of a Labor government that’s taken us into an economic crisis and providing an economic plan,\u201d he told Sky News on Friday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Opposition\u00a0leader also\u00a0maintained\u00a0that One Nation\u00a0was not capable of providing\u00a0a credible alternative government.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0policies are incoherent they don’t add up,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s not a show that can deliver for us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The comments prompted an immediate response from Senator Pauline Hanson.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a video posted on X<\/a>, she argued the Coalition had adopted several policies long championed by One Nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Senator Hanson urged Mr Taylor to stop attacking parties on the political right.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople aren\u2019t happy with what he\u2019s said and his comments about One Nation and myself, I\u2019m very disappointed with this,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know Angus,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not your enemy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s\u00a0work together.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0what I keep saying all the time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
