Which teams are interested in Jake DeBrusk?

In the last few weeks, a number of rival teams have been linked to the Vancouver Canucks’ winger Jake DeBrusk, including the Montreal Canadiens, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Winnipeg Jets.

What are insiders saying about the trade rumors?

A few hours ago, Jeffrey Kennett of Canucks’ Army note in a recent report, “The Blackhawks have $29.31 million in projected room with a 22-player active roster, so DeBrusk’s cap hit would not be a problem. The Blackhawks would not be moving a high-end prospect for DeBrusk, but Chicago has enough draft capital and second-tier young players to make a competitive offer. Marek Vanacker is coming off a huge OHL season with 47 goals and 82 points in 60 games for Brantford. That production could make him a tough ask, but the Canucks should at least start there in Chicago’s deep pool of prospects.”Jeffrey Kennett of Canucks’ Army added, “Winnipeg is another team specifically identified as still being in the winger market. The Jets have $10.68 million in projected cap space, which should be enough to cover DeBrusk’s full cap hit, but they are already carrying a 23-player active roster. That means Winnipeg would need to move someone out, waive someone, or include a roster player in the deal. This is one team on the list for which adding DeBrusk would be a proven upgrade to their current top-six composition. DeBrusk would likely fit behind Kyle Connor, or as a rotating top-six winger who can play with Scheifele if Winnipeg wants to spread out its scoring.”

Contract details and salary cap implications

The Vancouver Canucks’ winger Jake DeBrusk is in the third year of his seven year $38.5 million deal with the team. For a team that trades for the star winger, they will absorb a flat $5.5 million average annual salary cap hit.

How will the trade affect the teams?

For the Chicago Blackhawks, trading for Jake DeBrusk is pretty affordable as he could immediately fill an urgent top six offensive void created by Connor Bedard’s shoulder surgery injury. For the Winnipeg Jets, trading for Jake DeBrusk is affordable but the team would have to financially manage it by making a few changes in the contract.

The Vancouver Canucks’ winger Jake DeBrusk has been a regular name concerning trade speculations, ahead of the new…

[556
64,63,7520,373413,575,9150,85,2371,6000
post-793492","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nhl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-chicago-blackhawks","tag-jake-debrusk-trade-rumors","tag-nhl","tag-nhl-trade-speculation","tag-sports","tag-vancouver-canucks","tag-winnipeg-jets
["GET
