{"id":793624,"date":"2026-07-11T13:45:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T13:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/793624\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T13:45:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T13:45:11","slug":"carbon-monoxide-poisoning-suspected-in-fatal-mount-gambier-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/793624\/","title":{"rendered":"Carbon monoxide poisoning suspected in fatal Mount Gambier incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A 55-year-old man has died and three other men have been taken to hospital after suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a Mount Gambier home in South Australia&#8217;s south-east this morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Emergency services were called to the home on Penola Road just before 9am, initiating a HAZMAT response because of concerns about potentially hazardous gas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">On arrival, firefighters found four occupants unconscious in a back room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police have since confirmed that one of the four people has died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Sadly, a 55-year-old man died at the scene,&#8221; police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Three other occupants were taken to hospital for treatment of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">SA Health said those three occupants were all men, aged in their 50s through to their 70s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It said the three men had been taken to Mount Gambier hospital, and that they were all in a stable condition.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Penola Road at Mount Gambier.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/510a28a7e995a9217cf4be8fd42cca5f.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Firefighters were called to Penola Road just before 9am.
