A couple’s wedding invite has gone viral after a guest spotted several spelling and grammatical errors.<\/p>\n

The invite was shared on Reddit by the uncle of the groom who could not believe the betrothed couple had forgotten to proofread the message.<\/p>\n

Displayed on a green-coloured card with a white border, the invite included “a few notes” with the guests to ensure the special day runs smoothly.<\/p>\n

“We asked that you wear simple, elegant attire in solid colours or subtle patterns,” it read.<\/p>\n

“Please avoid white, red, bright colours, jeans, heavy sequence, lace or complex patters.”<\/p>\n

The couple signed off the note with a simple “thank you!”.<\/p>\n

“Is this the new normal? And did no one proofread?” the bemused guest questioned.<\/p>\n

The bride and groom’s invite went viral after commentators spotted that “heavy sequins” had been incorrectly written as “heavy sequence”.<\/p>\n

“If the couple can’t be bothered to spell check I will wear whatever I want,” one person wrote.<\/p>\n

Another quipped: “People dressed in a sequence, like their outfit only makes sense if they stand in a specific order? Like a band on a field spelling something out for the home team?”<\/p>\n

Others pointed out that the use of the past tense was incorrect.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m equally annoyed by \u201casked\u201d past tense when it should be present tense,” one person noted.<\/p>\n

“Especially because you give notes AFTER something. You could say ‘please note’ in advance, but ‘a few notes’ totally sounds like something you’re telling someone after the fact,” another agreed.<\/p>\n

“Only ‘few’ being italicised at the top also makes it read weird,” a third pointed out.<\/p>\n

“Agreed, it makes it sound really passive aggressive like ‘here\u2019s a few notes for you morons who can\u2019t be trusted to pick your own clothes for our wedding’,” someone else said.<\/p>\n

The groom’s uncle admitted he had been taken aback by his nephew and his nephew’s fianc\u00e9e’s demands.<\/p>\n

“I thought they were smarter (and less demanding) than this,” he quipped.<\/p>\n

He also vented his frustration at the lack of information provided to guests, noting the wedding website simply included the date, time, location and dress code.<\/p>\n

“This wedding is being held at an expensive venue. I don\u2019t get it.
