Marvel\u2019s been quiet about\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>\u00a0since its quartet of trailers<\/a> last year, but now we\u2019ve got our best look yet at the film.<\/p>\n

Attendees at this weekend\u2019s Shanghai Expo clocked concept art created by longtime MCU artist and visual development head Andy Park. Park, who was among many laid off by Marvel<\/a> earlier this year, drew the principle Doomsday\u00a0cast, with nearly everyone segmented into teams and Robert Downey Jr.\u2019s Doctor Doom and an outline of Loki looming over them all. (It\u2019s something both men tend to do.) And as Park notes, this art both \u201ccommemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time.\u201d Let\u2019s get into it.<\/p>\n

On the left side, we\u2019ve got Thor<\/a>, Ant-Man, and Steve Rogers wielding Mjolnir, with the New Avengers\u2014Bucky, Yelena, Red Guardian, US Agent, Ghost, and Bob\u2014on the far side. The right has Captain America and Falcon flying above the Fantastic Four, Black Panther and M\u2019Baku<\/a>, and Shang-Chi. Finally, the center holds our returned X-Men<\/a>: Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Mystique, Gambit, Beast, Magneto, and Professor X.<\/p>\n

Note that Steve and Reed Richards stand closest to Doom here. While Reed and Doom are longtime enemies, Steve isn\u2019t always in direct opposition against the ruler of Latveria, though the comics have recently built this dynamic up in Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti\u2019s Captain America\u00a0solo. Marvel began its\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0teaser run confirming Steve was back in action<\/a>, so the art raises questions about why he\u2019s as significant as Reed in Doom\u2019s eyes. Also worth calling out is Namor\u2019s MIA after they were featured in the chair reveal, for whatever reason.<\/p>\n

Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0is still expected to hit theaters on December 18.<\/p>\n
