Konya\u2019s renewed commitment means he will now represent the Mountain West Conference on the national committee through August 31, 2028.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cServing on the Division I Women\u2019s Basketball Committee has been one of the highlights of my professional career, and I\u2019m grateful that my peers have entrusted me with this opportunity,\u201d Konya said. \u201cThis is an incredible time for women\u2019s basketball, and I look forward to helping guide the championship during a period of tremendous growth for the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Konya, who previously served on the committee during the 2017\u201318 season while leading the athletic department at Oakland University, stepped back onto the panel in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-member committee is tasked with the selection, seeding, and bracketing of the NCAA Division I Women\u2019s Basketball Championship field, as well as the ongoing administration, governance, and promotion of the tournament. Konya brings a wealth of national committee experience to the role; he has previously served on NCAA committees for Division I men\u2019s soccer, Division II women\u2019s tennis, and the Division I Women&#8217;s gymnastics committee.<\/p>\n<p>A prominent voice in the industry, Konya is a two-time National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Director of the Year award winner (2016\u201317 at Oakland and 2020\u201321 at Northeastern).
