{"id":794584,"date":"2026-07-12T01:43:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T01:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/794584\/"},"modified":"2026-07-12T01:43:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T01:43:09","slug":"carl-froch-rates-conor-benns-chances-of-beating-ryan-garcia-ahead-of-official-fight-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/794584\/","title":{"rendered":"Carl Froch rates Conor Benn&#8217;s chances of beating Ryan Garcia ahead of official fight announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carl Froch has assessed the chances of <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/conor-benn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Conor Benn<\/a> pulling off a sizable upset against <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/ryan-garcia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Garcia<\/a>, who he is expected to face in September.<\/p>\n<p>Their welterweight showdown was reportedly set to be announced on Friday, with Dana White inviting both fighters to the stage at a UFC weigh-in.<\/p>\n<p>According to boxing journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DanRafael1\/status\/2075782589801992669?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dan Rafael, however, there are still some issues that must be ironed out on Garcia\u2019s side<\/a>, which concern the involvement of DAZN and Oscar De La Hoya\u2019s Golden Boy.<\/p>\n<p>Benn, meanwhile, has reportedly completed his side of the agreement to challenge for Garcia\u2019s WBC world title in Las Vegas on September 12.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old signed with White\u2019s Zuffa Boxing earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/cn9qzz0l5d2o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">before unanimously outpointing a faded Regis Prograis over 10 rounds in April<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet it seems the promotional and broadcast situation for his clash with Garcia \u2013 expected to be streamed on Netflix \u2013 is far from straightforward, being that the WBC champion seemingly has an existing contract with Golden Boy and DAZN.<\/p>\n<p>If it does go ahead, though, then Froch has suggested on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/x5LerUhkBIo?si=x3aut0LgfzEfHlRr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his YouTube channel<\/a> that Garcia would prove too skilled for his less proven opponent, giving Benn just a 30% chance of victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one is exciting, because you get to find out where Conor Benn belongs. Does he belong at world level?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRyan Garcia \u2026 Would you say he\u2019s an elite-level champion? He\u2019s been down, he\u2019s been beat, [but] you\u2019ve got to say he\u2019s world-class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is a massive step-up for Conor Benn. I\u2019m not sure it\u2019s the fight he will win.
