{"id":795288,"date":"2026-07-12T10:12:26","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T10:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/795288\/"},"modified":"2026-07-12T10:12:26","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T10:12:26","slug":"taylor-swift-paid-us160000-new-york-city-permit-fee-for-madison-square-garden-wedding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/795288\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Swift paid US$160,000 New York City permit fee for Madison Square Garden wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taylor Swift paid US$160,000 (S$206,624) for a New York City permit to hold <a href=\"https:\/\/cnalifestyle.channelnewsasia.com\/entertainment\/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-married-madison-square-garden-adam-sandler-585511\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">her blockbuster wedding with NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden<\/a> this month, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Friday (Jul 10).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani told reporters that the billionaire pop singer covered the bill for this month&#8217;s star-studded extravaganza, when asked if Swift would pay back the city for police overtime related to the ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over US$160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,&#8221; Mamdani said.<\/p>\n<p>Swift&#8217;s wedding, which took place over two days in Manhattan, drew hundreds of celebrities and involved a large deployment of police officers who shut down streets surrounding the huge indoor arena.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of the event is unknown, but Forbes magazine estimated that it exceeded US$20 million.
