<\/p>\nThe Mruk Family Center on Aging will celebrate 10 years of Rock Steady Boxing on Monday with an open house from 10 until noon at the Wellness Center located at 2545 Highway 5 North. The event is designed to introduce the community to a program that has helped improve the lives of people living with Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n
Mruk Family Center on Aging Coordinator Diahanne VanGulick says the celebration is designed to give people a firsthand look at the program and the opportunity to hear directly from those who have benefited from it.

Mountain Home became the first community in Arkansas to offer the program 10 years ago, and VanGulick says research over the last decade has continued to support its effectiveness.<\/p>\n One of the biggest lessons learned over the past decade according to VanGulick, is that getting involved soon after a diagnosis can make a significant difference. https:\/\/dehayf5mhw1h7.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2786\/2026\/07\/12104053\/Wireready_07-12-2026-10-40-40_09961_93863.mp3<\/a><\/p>\n click to download audio<\/a><\/p>\n VanGulick says while the program suggests a monthly contribution for those who can afford it, scholarships are available so finances are not a barrier to participation.
