According to local media, Cameron Hughes was being held at Ngurah Rai Immigration Office when he was found unresponsive on Friday night.<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old, who had lived in Bali for 15 years where he was married with an eight-year-old son, was awaiting deportation over visa issues.<\/p>\n
His family is desperately seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death.<\/p>\n
\u201cCameron was a beautiful person who loved his family deeply and was a devoted father,\u201d his family said in a statement provided to the ABC.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was resilient, hardworking and proud of overcoming challenges to build a good life. Taken too soon doesn\u2019t even come close. We are completely broken as a family.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be working closely with consular staff to understand what actually happened, and work with them to understand the full extent of the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bali Times reported Mr Hughes had received emergency medical treatment after officers found him unconscious inside the detention facility, but he died on the way to hospital.<\/p>\n
Immigration officials have launched an investigation into the death, co-ordinating with police to examine the scene of the incident.<\/p>\n
Preliminary findings by the hospital indicated Mr Hughes may have had a heart attack.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Bali.<\/p>\n
