Ethan Lennon and Dries Van Langendonck wrap up Rodin Motorsport hat-trick at Zandvoort\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rodin Motorsport made it three wins from three races in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, at Zandvoort as Ethan Lennon and Dries Van Langendonck shared Sunday\u2019s spoils in the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Closing out yet another action-packed visit to the home of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, one of the most successful teams in the history of the UK\u2019s premier single-seater series made its mark as Lennon and Van Langendonck kept their cool to triumph in style.\u00a0<\/p>\n
South African star Lennon struck first,\u00a0securing\u00a0his second win of the campaign in\u00a0a\u00a0absorbing\u00a0reverse-grid encounter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Starting on the front row alongside pole-sitter Mate Kobakhidze (Xcel Motorsport), Lennon made a perfect start to\u00a0grab\u00a0the lead, while Kobakhidze had to contend with the equally fast-starting Chris Dittmann Racing machine of Tommy Harfield.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hounding the Georgian over the course of the opening lap, things unfortunately came to a head on lap two as Harfield\u2019s attempted overtake at the infamous Turn 3 banking resulted in contact between the pair, forcing Kobakhidze into retirement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With his stricken machine needing to be recovered, the Safety Car made the first of two appearances. Following its\u00a0initial\u00a0intervention,\u00a0shortly after\u00a0racing resumed\u00a0it\u00a0was again deployed to recover the stricken\u00a0Fortec\u00a0machine of Roman Felber,\u00a0however,\u00a0that provided just\u00a0enough time for George\u00a0Proudford-Nalder (Virtuosi Racing) to move up to third.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Following the second Safety Car period,\u00a0the\u00a0scene was set for a\u00a0one-lap\u00a0battle to the finish, however\u00a0it proved\u00a0to be one of attrition as\u00a0Proudford-Nalder dived down the inside of Alba Larsen (Chris Dittmann Racing) to snatch second place into Turn 1 before setting off in pursuit of Lennon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite closing onto the gearbox of the Rodin Motorsport teenager on\u00a0this\u00a0last\u00a0lap,\u00a0Proudford-Nalder had to settle for second place as Lennon triumphed, also\u00a0clinching\u00a0the Lotus Fastest Lap. Behind, Larsen held on to clinch a career-best third-place finish in British Formula 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Cameron Nelson (JHR Developments) recorded his best finish to date in fourth while also scooping Rookie Cup honours. The Welsh racer narrowly pipped Red Bull Junior Scott Kin Lindblom and his Hitech team-mate Theo Palmer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Completing the top ten were Jarrett Clark (Virtuosi Racing), the recovering Harfield, championship leader Van Langendonck and Adam Al Azhari (Hitech).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Later in\u00a0the day,\u00a0Belgium-born Van Langendonck\u00a0went on to\u00a0strengthen his advantage at the summit of the Drivers\u2019 Championship,\u00a0with a measured lights-to-flag victory ahead of Kin Lindblom and Palmer in\u00a0Race 3,\u00a0the weekend\u2019s feature race.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The race was\u00a0hamstrung\u00a0with\u00a0two\u00a0safety car periods\u00a0caused\u00a0by\u00a0incidents\u00a0further down the\u00a0field,\u00a0however, Van Langendonck never looked likely to be displaced at the front.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Controlling the pace whenever racing resumed, Van Langendonck cruised to his fourth win of the season\u00a0and also\u00a0claimed the bonus point for the Lotus Fastest Lap, as well as Rookie Cup\u00a0honours, to cap another scintillating\u00a0weekend\u00a0performance. Kin Lindblom and Palmer added to their own podium tallies,\u00a0propelling\u00a0Hitech\u00a0to the\u00a0top of the\u00a0Teams\u2019 Cup\u00a0standings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Nelson capped off his strongest showing of the season with a second successive fourth-place finish, while\u00a0Proudford-Nalder, Lennon, Jaber\u00a0Alsabah\u00a0(Xcel Motorsport), Harfield, Ethan Jeff-Hall (Argenti Motorsport) and Ethan Carney (Fortec\u00a0Motorsports) rounded out the top ten.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Heading back to British shores, Van Langendonck now holds a commanding lead in the Drivers\u2019 Championship\u00a0and\u00a0the Rookie Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n
