For much of his NFL career,\u00a0Stefon Diggs<\/a>\u00a0has operated as his team\u2019s No. 1 receiver. That was certainly the case in 2025, but the veteran free agent is eyeing a deal which will make him the No. 2 option with his next employer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Diggs said his days as the top option in a team\u2019s passing attack are likely over. He added, however, that he feels he would be the best WR2 in the NFL. Specifically, the four-time Pro Bowler said (via ESPN\u2019s Mike Reiss<\/a>), \u201cyou can\u2019t name a No. 2 better than me.\u201d<\/p>\n

With training camps approaching, Diggs represents one of several notable receivers still on the open market at this time. The 32-year-old was released by the Patriots after one season in a move which was ultimately followed by the\u00a0Romeo Doubs<\/a>\u00a0signing and the\u00a0A.J. Brown<\/a> trade. A brief trial stemming from a strangulation allegation resulted in a not guilty verdict, and the NFL will not issue a suspension<\/a> under the personal conduct policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s not a No. 2 on a team \u2014 let\u2019s presumably give people the credit and just say, \u2018OK, you want to take the No. 1 spot away,’\u201d\u00a0Diggs added.\u00a0\u201cName your No. 2 receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?\u201d<\/p>\n

A number of teams<\/a> could stand to add a veteran of 11 seasons and seven 1,000-yard campaigns late in free agency. Diggs has expressed a willingness to play for the Commanders, although it remains to be seen if interest is mutual in the case of the Maryland alum. Washington has nearly $44MM in cap space, and several other potential suitors could easily afford a one-year Diggs contract.<\/p>\n

During his lone season in New England, Diggs managed to remain healthy after an ACL tear cut his Texans campaign short in 2024. His 85-1,013-4 statline helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl, and expectations for another productive year will be at least relatively high regardless of where he lands.
