Jonah Pezet is currently in the midst of a hit-and-run deal with the Eels. He\u2019ll head to Brisbane from next season.<\/p>\n
So far, the Pezet signing hasn\u2019t worked out as the club would\u2019ve hoped with Mitch Moses and Pezet rarely seeing the field together this season due to injuries.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s part of the reason why journalist Dean Ritchie believes the Eels shouldn\u2019t add Luai.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t agree with it. I think Parramatta just aren\u2019t learning their lesson here,\u201d Ritchie said. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou throw in the World Cup this year, it doesn\u2019t finish till mid-November. Then you\u2019ve got the RLPA sanctioned holidays, so he wouldn\u2019t come back until what? Mid-January, late February? So the deal for next year is only for probably eight or nine months. <\/p>\n
\u201cParramatta\u2019s got to learn what\u2019s in their soul, what\u2019s in their heart, what\u2019s in their emblem, and stop signing these Band-Aid deals for one year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just question the culture that they\u2019re trying to build by signing these blokes for one year and then making them better players potentially to go and ply their trade somewhere.<\/p>\n

NRL360 host Braith Anasta, who is Pezet\u2019s agent, outlined why the Pezet and Luai situations are unique.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Eels are fans are split on it. It is a tough call to make. I\u2019m not sure which way I\u2019d go,\u201d Anasta said. <\/p>\n
\u201dIn reference to Jonah, I think different. He\u2019s a seven, they\u2019re both sevens him and Mitch and in one year to get that combination right, it\u2019s not a lot of time. <\/p>\n
\u201cJarome\u2019s an out and out six, and he\u2019s played with Mitch and they\u2019ve succeeded at Origin level. So they\u2019ve had a formidable combination.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s important is that Parramatta need to win footy games, and Jarome will help them win footy games,\u201d Read added. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got to remember that Ryles is in the last year of his contract next year. Rylesy needs to win footy games and Jarome makes them a better footy side.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adding intrigue to the situation is the status of Ronald Volkman, who has been playing well in the halves this season.<\/p>\n
Volkman is off contract at the end of the season and is reportedly set to be moved on as he and the club aren\u2019t close in contract negotiations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt looks like he\u2019s (Volkman) leaving. He thinks he\u2019s worth more than what their willing to offer him,\u201d Read explained.<\/p>\n
