Los Pumitas fell to Scotland in their 5th place semi final at the World Rugby Junior Championship. It was a match in which Argentina fell short of expectations in being soundly defeated 44-26. The poor showing from Los Pumitas means their remaining match will determine whether they finish 7th or 8th.<\/p>\n

Scotland scored seven tries while Argentina scored four. The first Pumitas try of the match was a penalty try in favor of Los Pumitas. It saw Scotland a players down for ten minutes as Dan Halkon was yellow carded. Before then Scottish tight head prop\u00a0Ollie Byth-Lafferty had entered the try zone.<\/p>\n

Los Pumitas failed to add to their penalty try. Scotland were playing the better rugby and in command with a 19-7 half-time lead. Hooker and captain Joe Roberts scored tries in both halves while winger Nairn Moncrieff also scored for the Europeans in the opening half.<\/p>\n

The second-half saw Scotland scoring four tries compared to three Pumitas tries. The Argentine scorers were winger Bautista Lescano (51\u2032), center Pedro Coll (60\u2032), and center Ram\u00f3n R Fern\u00e1ndez (75\u2032). The early scoring in the second-half saw Los Pumitas back in the match with Scotland holding a 24-19 lead at the start of the final quarter.<\/p>\n
