\n\tAmazon Prime Video<\/a> has revealed a first-look at \u201cCarrie<\/a>,\u201d Mike Flanagan<\/a>\u2018s TV adaptation of the iconic Stephen King novel. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show was first reported to be in the works in October 2024<\/a>, with Amazon officially greenlighting it for eight episode<\/a>s<\/a> in April 2025<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is described as a reinvention of King\u2019s novel. The official logline states, \u201cMisfit high\u2011schooler Carrie White (Summer Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father\u2019s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social\u2011media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with Howell and Sloyan, the cast includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.<\/p>\n

\n\tFlanagan serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on \u201cCarrie\u201d in addition to directing four episodes. King is also an executive producer, with Amazon MGM Studios producing. <\/p>\n

\n\tFlanagan has become one of the most influential voices in the horror genre in recent years. He has received considerable praise for his TV shows \u201cThe Haunting of Hill House,\u201d \u201cMidnight Mass,\u201d and \u201cThe Fall of the House of Usher\u201d at Netflix, as well as for films like \u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d (itself an adaptation of King\u2019s followup to \u201cThe Shining\u201d) and \u201cGerald\u2019s Game,\u201d another King novel adaptation. Most recently, Flanagan adapted King\u2019s 2020 novella \u201cThe Life of Chuck\u201d into a film starring Tom Hiddleston.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCarrie\u201d was King\u2019s first novel and was originally published in 1974. The book went on to become a best seller and was subsequently adapted into a film in 1976 with Sissy Spacek in the title role. Directed by Brian DePalma, the film grossed over $30 million on a reported budget of less than $2 million. It is widely cited as one of the best horror films of all time.<\/p>\n
