Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout will serve as the American League’s leadoff hitter.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber sits atop the batting order for the National League.<\/p>\n
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander\u00a0Dylan Cease and Phillies lefty\u00a0Cristopher S\u00e1nchez were previously announced<\/a> as the starting pitchers for the AL and NL squads, respectively.<\/p>\n Trout is familiar with the All-Star experience, as he earned his 12th career All-Star nod this season.<\/p>\n The 34-year-old was excited to travel to Philadelphia and compete in the event at Citizens Bank Park, which is located approximately 40 miles away from his hometown of Millville, New Jersey.<\/p>\n “It was definitely on my list when it came out, so it’s pretty cool,” Trout said, per MLB.com’s\u00a0Rhett Bollinger<\/a>. “Just the kids, friends, family. It just means a lot.”<\/p>\n “I love playing in it, but it’s an experience for my kids and family,” he added. “It’s going to be good to be able to stay at my house and enjoy a few days. And I know my kids are excited for the Derby, and obviously the game too.”<\/p>\n
