It sounds like fans won\u2019t be seeing former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou back inside the cage anytime soon.<\/p>\n
Since Ngannou left the UFC in early 2023<\/a> following a lengthy contractual dispute, the heavyweight king has competed just once in mixed martial arts.<\/p>\n \u2018The Predator\u2019 initially made the most of the freedom granted to him by the PFL to pursue a career in boxing. After Ngannou pushed Tyson Fury to the limit<\/a> in his debut, he was brutally knocked out by Anthony Joshua in his second fight.<\/p>\n That result was followed by Ngannou\u2019s long-awaited PFL debut last October, but it seems like there are no plans for the Cameroonian to return to the cage in 2025.<\/p>\n Francis Ngannou says the PFL has \u2018no opponent\u2019 for him <\/p>\n Ngannou dominantly beat Renan Ferreira<\/a> at the PFL\u2019s \u2018Battle of the Giants\u2019 event, getting his tenure in the promotion off to a strong start.<\/p>\n That fight was immediately followed by questions over who \u2018The Predator\u2019 could face next, and almost a year later, it seems the PFL has still not come up with an answer.<\/p>\n During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ngannou<\/a> dealt a blow to those eagerly awaiting his next MMA appearance.<\/p>\n \u201cNo,\u201d Ngannou said when asked if discussions have taken place over him fighting in the PFL this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI started to reach out, sent some emails for a fight to see what is on the line. But since there is nothing yet. I don\u2019t think they have an opponent for me.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we will wait,\u201d Ngannou added. \u201cWe still have time.<\/p>\n \u201cI know they brought up (Vadim) Nemkov, but things didn\u2019t play out. I was expecting to maybe have the champion, the champion of the tournament. But I still don\u2019t know how it\u2019s looking.\u201d<\/p>\n
