The Storm\u2019s horror injury season has just gone from bad to worse with Cameron Munster to have surgery on his knee after sustaining a cartilage injury.<\/p>\n
The five-eighth last played in the State of Origin decider last Wednesday as the Maroons were outclassed by the Blues.<\/p>\n
Despite being initially named to back up against the Titans last Sunday, the 31-year-old was ruled out at the 24-hour mark as the Storm narrowly edged past a determined Gold Coast outfit.<\/p>\n
And now it has now been confirmed that he will go under the knife for a knee issue, which is understood to be a meniscus injury.<\/p>\n
The Storm have confirmed Munster will begin his rehabilitation with club medical staff and is expected to be sidelined for at least four to six weeks.<\/p>\n
Tyran Wishart is expected to fill in at No. 6 alongside Jarome Hughes, who made a successful return from injury last week.<\/p>\n
It is a major blow for Craig Bellamy\u2019s side, who are desperately trying to remain in contention for the finals after a horror start to the 2026 campaign where they went on a club record seven-game losing streak.<\/p>\n
The Storm, who have a tough run home facing five top eight sides in their final seven matches, sit two wins outside of a finals place entering this week.<\/p>\n
And Munster\u2019s injury is just the latest blow for a side who is having some awful luck with injuries in 2026.<\/p>\n
Star winger Xavier Coates and last year\u2019s second rower of the year, Eli Katoa, have missed the entire season.<\/p>\n
While Jahrome Hughes, Nick Meaney, Jack Howarth, Tui Kamikamica, Tyran Wishart and Moses Leo have all spent time on the sidelines.<\/p>\n
The Storm hasn\u2019t missed the finals since 2010 when they were stripped of their competition points as part of their punishment for salary cap breaches.<\/p>\n
They head to Sydney on Friday night to face the Roosters.<\/p>\n
