It’s the Midsummer Classic<\/a> in the City of Brotherly Love.<\/p>\n

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game<\/a> takes place Tuesday as the American League battles the National League at Citizens Bank Park<\/a> in Philadelphia<\/a>. <\/p>\n

This is Philly’s first time hosting the All-Star Game since 1996<\/a> when the exhibition was played at Veterans Stadium, the former home of the Phillies<\/a>. And the fifth All-Star Game to be played in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed<\/a>, comes as the U.S. celebrates its 250th anniversary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The host Phillies have six All-Star representatives<\/a>, including a trio of starters. Outfielder Brandon Marsh<\/a> will be in the starting lineup as he makes his All-Star Game debut while designated hitter Kyle Schwarber<\/a> took over Shohei Ohtani’s starting spot<\/a>. Southpaw Cristopher S\u00e1nchez<\/a> will become the first Phillies pitcher to start a Midsummer Classic<\/a> since Roy Halladay<\/a> in 2011 — and he’ll do so at his home ballpark.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays<\/a> right-hander Dylan Cease<\/a>, meanwhile, will be the first Toronto pitcher to make an All-Star start since Halladay in 2009.<\/p>\n

The managers of the reigning AL and NL pennant winners serve as All-Star Game skippers. That means Dave Roberts<\/a>, manager of the two-time defending World Series<\/a> champion Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>, will oversee the NL squad for a fifth time while Blue Jays skipper John Schneider<\/a> will manage the AL for the first time.<\/p>\n

AL All-Star Game starters, lineup, pitchers, reserves<\/p>\n

Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr.<\/a> was voted in as the AL starter at first base, but won’t be able to play due to injury<\/a>. Athletics<\/a> first baseman Nick Kurtz<\/a> was then moved into the starting lineup before also being ruled out due to injury<\/a>. New York Yankees<\/a> first baseman Ben Rice<\/a> now gets the starting nod in his All-Star debut.<\/p>\n

Two other original AL starters will miss the game due to injury in Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge<\/a> and Minnesota Twins<\/a> outfielder Byron Buxton<\/a>. Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger<\/a> and Detroit Tigers<\/a> outfielder Riley Greene<\/a> will take over those spots.<\/p>\n

And Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander<\/a>, who is retiring after this season<\/a>, was added to the AL roster by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred as a “Legend Pick.” But the three-time Cy Young winner won’t be active<\/a> for the game due to injury.<\/p>\n
